Dr. Salvatore is a board-certified neurologist that practices in the east valley of the Phoenix metro area. He graduated with his bachelors of science degree in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior, summa cum laude from the University of California at Davis. He went on to pursue his medical education at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. He completed his training with an internship and residency at Ohio University, Grandview Hospital and Medical Center in Dayton, 0H.

After completing his training, Dr. Salvatore practiced at Baptist Health Louisville, Louisville, KY. While there he served as Medical Director of the Stroke Program and was recognized as one of Louisville’s Top Docs.

Dr. Salvatore started working as a neurohospitalist in Arizona in June 2014. He has recently joined Foothills Neurology to help provide their patients with additional continuity of services with comprehensive inpatient care. He sees patients at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, Chandler Regional Medical Center, Mesa Arizona General Hospital and several additional Honor Health facilities.

Dr. Salvatore is a neurohospitalist, a type of neurologist that sub-specializes in acute neurological emergencies and inpatient care. He is the current Neuroscience Director and Stroke Program Medical Director for Dignity Health East Valley Hospitals that include Chandler Regional Medical Center our local level one trauma hospital and Mercy Gilbert Medical our rapidly growing community hospital.

He has served as Vice President of the Medical Staff 2020 – 2021, Chief of Staff from 2022 – 2023 and on the hospital board for both of the Dignity Health east valley hospitals. He currently has a seat on the Medical Executive Committee. In addition, he has served as one of the initial members of the medical board for Dignity Health Acute Rehabilitation Hospital in Chandler, Arizona.

He is a member of the American Stroke Association, Neurohospitalist Society and the Stroke and Vascular Neurology section of the American Academy of Neurology.

He is active in research and participates as the principal investigator and sub-investigator in national studies sponsored by the American Stroke Association and the University of Arizona. His research interests are optimizing treatment options for secondary stroke prevention and enhancing the quality of life and functional recovery in post-stroke patients.

Dr. Salvatore lives in Gilbert, AZ. He enjoys physical fitness, cooking, attending sporting events and spending time with his wife Nicole and two children.
